Description

Kingspan Kooltherm K118 is a premium performance insulated plasterboard (12.5mm plasterboard+ insulation) designed for mechanically fixed and adhesively bonded insulated drylining. It enables thin wall constructions with an insulation component that delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.019 W/mK. Providing insulation, drylining, and vapour control in one board, it can be used with solid stonework and brickwork, with or without an existing lining.

  • Does Kingspan Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard need an air gap? - For traditional insulation materials such as fibreglass or mineral wool, it's not necessary to leave an air gap between the insulation and plasterboard. These materials are designed to be in direct contact with the plasterboard and work by slowing down the transfer of heat through the wall or ceiling.
  • What is the thermal resistance of K118? - Thermal Resistance (R–value): 2.55 m2K/W.
  • Can you plaster over Kingspan? - Yes. You can add Kingspan insulation to existing plastered walls and you can plaster over any boards - but you should fix them securely in place.

Very impressed

We've been very impressed by the Kingspan Kooltherm K118 insulated plasterboard. Our Victorian home has solid brick walls so we were losing a lot of heat through them in Winter and had expensive heating bills. We choose the slim 25mm thickness board as we have decorative ceilings so didn't want that affected too much. We chose the Kingspan Kooltherm K118 brand because it offered the best heat retention capability of all the insulation products we researched. The difference has been fantastic. Even though we went for the thinnest boards, the increased heat retention in the rooms and the increased speed with which the rooms warm up has been really noticeable. We also don't notice the loss in room size. This was the second batch of Kingspan K118 boards we ordered and we will be ordering more as we insulate more rooms.
