Things you should know about this product!

  • This product is sold by the roll

Description

M.A.D. PRO 50 is an aluminised, bituminous acoustic sheet reinforced with mineral fillers. Its high mass and multilayer construction reduce resonance and improve low-frequency performance, functioning as an anti-resonant layer, a flexible interlayer between rigid elements, or a membrane resonator within spring systems. The sheet also delivers a Bs1d0 reaction to fire, acts as a vapour barrier, and provides thermo-reflective behaviour when installed in cavities.

Specifications

  • Length
    900cm
  • Width
    100cm
  • Fire rating
    Euroclass B

Key Features

  • Increases acoustic mass to improve sound insulation, especially at low frequencies
  • Shifts resonance frequencies of rigid elements for stronger insulation performance
  • Converts acoustic energy between insulators to enhance low-frequency damping
  • Enables reduced cavity depth while maintaining acoustic performance
  • Bonds effectively to galvanised steel to improve panel resonance
  • Achieves excellent fire reaction classification (Bs1d0)
  • Acts as a vapour barrier and provides thermo-reflective properties in cavities
  • Compatible with perforated or porous surface systems for optimised acoustic solutions
  • Durable performance over time

Where to use

  • Industrial roofs with acoustic requirements → Adds mass and reduces resonance in roof constructions where noise control is required.
  • Anti-resonant layer for galvanised steel → Applied to steel sheets to reduce panel resonance in industrial and commercial settings.
  • Partition walls and ceilings → Placed between rigid elements (e.g. plasterboard) to improve low-frequency insulation on vertical and horizontal surfaces.
  • Spring-based systems → Used between spring elements to significantly increase low-frequency isolation.
  • Cavity applications requiring a vapour barrier → Provides internal vapour control while contributing acoustic mass.
  • Technical wood panelling & perforated finishes → Suitable for systems where perforated or porous finishing elements are used.

Important Recommendations:

  • Façade cladding must terminate at the dividing wall between different users (see SPD 2.1).
  • Do not perforate the system with installations in specified commercial/ground-floor solutions (see SPD 2.3, SPD 4.4).
  • Partition walls should be plastered to at least 1 cm (see SPD 3) and not anchored to structural elements except where permitted.
  • Ceiling dampers must be anchored to joists or reinforced elements; for very heavy ceilings use a primary/secondary grid (see SPD 4.2–4.3).
  • Anchor gypsum plasterboards to galvanised steel framing (do not use plate-to-plate screws).
  • For dry wall cladding over 4 m high use elastic fasteners (see SPD 2.5).
  • When used in cavities or with perforated finishes, fit the aluminised side to promote interior heat reflection.

Frequently asked questions

What is M.A.D. PRO 50 used for?

M.A.D. PRO 50 is used to increase acoustic mass and reduce resonance in walls, ceilings and roofs, improving low-frequency sound insulation and overall acoustic performance.

Does M.A.D. PRO 50 provide fire protection?

Yes — the product achieves a Bs1d0 reaction to fire and can contribute to the fire performance of acoustic systems without requiring additional covering in some solutions.

Can M.A.D. PRO 50 be used with perforated finishes or timber panelling?

Yes. It can be combined with perforated or porous surface elements and with technical wood panelling to optimise acoustic treatment while retaining vapour barrier and reflective properties.
