Novia Polybit (Polythene Coated A1F) is best suited for use as a general-purpose lining and separation layer in construction applications, particularly in timber frame builds. With a layer of polythene bonded to traditional A1F bitumen building paper, it provides improved moisture resistance and enhanced durability compared to standard A1F. This makes it ideal for temporary protection, floor and wall overlays, and as a separation barrier between dissimilar materials. While not a substitute for a dedicated vapour control layer, Novia Polybit is a versatile and cost-effective option for non-critical internal lining applications where basic moisture resistance is required.

Why is the polythene coating important?

The clear polythene coating adds extra moisture resistance and durability compared to standard A1F building paper, making it more suitable for demanding conditions.

Is it suitable for permanent installations?

Yes—unlike some lighter building papers, only the A1F-grade variants (including Polybit) are rated for permanent applications per Novia’s documentation.

How is it installed?

Lay the paper with the polythene-coated side facing outward in applications requiring moisture resistance. Fix securely over framing or substrate. Depending on use, overlaps and penetrations may be sealed with tape or mastic for enhanced performance.
