Walls

Novia® VC8 Reflective Vapour Control Layer is used in insulated wall constructions as an air leakage barrier and vapour control layer (AVCL). It is installed on the warm side of the building envelope to manage moisture vapour movement and reduce the risk of interstitial condensation within the wall structure. When used in conjunction with Novia® breather membranes on the cold side, Novia® VC8 Reflective supports compliant wall build-ups in accordance with BS 5250. For improved thermal performance, the reflective surface should face a minimum 25mm air cavity when correctly installed.

Roofs

Novia® VC8 Reflective Vapour Control Layer is used in insulated roof applications as an internal air-tight vapour control layer. Installed on the warm side of the roof construction, it helps to minimise moisture vapour diffusion and air leakage that can lead to condensation within the insulation layer. Novia® VC8 Reflective should be fully sealed using Novia® tapes to achieve the required air-tightness performance and is typically used in conjunction with a Novia® breather membrane on the external (cold) side of the roof structure.

Floors

Novia® VC8 Reflective Vapour Control Layer is used in insulated floor constructions to control moisture vapour movement and reduce air leakage. Positioned on the warm side of the insulated floor build-up, it provides a low vapour permeability layer designed to limit condensation risk within the construction. As with wall and roof applications, Novia® VC8 Reflective must be installed using compatible Novia® tapes to ensure a continuous and fully sealed air-tight barrier.

Insulated Frame Applications

Novia® VC8 Reflective Vapour Control Layer is ideal for use in insulated frame applications when installed as part of a complete membrane system. It is designed to be used internally on the warm side of the structure, working in conjunction with Novia® breather membranes installed on the external cold side prior to cladding. This system approach supports effective moisture management and improved thermal performance when correctly detailed and sealed.
