PolyFoam XPS Polyfoam Floorboard Standard is best suited for use in ground floor and intermediate floor constructions where reliable thermal insulation and compressive strength are required. What applications is it suitable for?

• Insulation under concrete slabs in ground-floor build ups. 
• Insulation above slab (floating floors) or under screed. 
• Basements, swimming pool basins, and other damp or wet-condition applications owing to its moisture resistance. 
• Below DPC (damp-proof course) or external wall insulation applications in some conditions

What are the limitations or things to watch?

• Although moisture resistant, design details should still consider potential exposure to water—ensure floor build-up directs moisture away and uses appropriate detailing.
• As with most XPS products, fire performance may require consideration — design may need appropriate fire protection depending on project use.
• Proper perimeter edge detailing, avoidance of thermal bridging at junctions, and compatibility with other layers (e.g., DPM/DPC, screed, heating) remain important.

How should it be installed?

• Ensure the substrate is clean, level, and appropriate for insulation boards.
• Boards should be laid with tight butting of edges, and, if multiple layers are used, joints should be staggered to improve performance.
• Protect boards during installation from damage, including from site traffic, heavy point loads, or prolonged moisture exposure.
• Where applicable, check manufacturer’s guidance for compatibility with underfloor heating systems, vapour control layers, and screeds.
