Wrapseal Install Guide

Install Guide

Description

Wrapseal® is a flexible interface membrane designed to create a durable airtight and weathertight seal around windows, doors and other similar openings within the building envelope. (Self-Adhered Interface Membrane for Windows, Doors and Façade Openings)

The membrane’s flexible and fully self adhesive construction allows it to provide a continuous seal between the opening and the surrounding substrate, replacing traditional adhesive applied EPDM’s.

Wrapseal is vapour permeable and airtight, allowing moisture vapour to escape from the building fabric while maintaining airtightness performance, and resisting water penetration. Installed in conjunction with Wraptite® LF liquid flashing, the system provides secure sealing to deliver a robust installation.

  • Designed as alternative to impermeable EPDM’s
  • UV Resistant
  • Class B-s2,d0 over cement based sheathing
  • Fully self adhesive
  • Compatible with Wraptite® and Proctor A1 Cement Board
  • Flexible non-woven construction
  • Airtight and weather-resistant
  • Vapour permeable
  • Seamless sealing with Wraptite® LF
  • Compatible with multiple substrates
  • Supports high-performance building envelopes

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a minimum overlap? Or a minimum rise up the upstand?

We advise a minimum 20-30mm bond against the upstand with a minimum bond of 100mm to the sheathing.

How do you detail if not using the L brackets?

Other brackets are available but the principals are the same in all instances. Ensure you get a clean, secure bond between the Wrapseal
and the window upstand that can be well sealed. Also ensure you can get a good seal to the substrate. Liquid fl ashing can be used to seal
all areas. Watch for puncturing or damage in all instances and these can be remediated with a patch or Wraptite® LF.

How important is Liquid Flashing?

Wraptite LF is critical to complete the system installation. It is there to help seal and detail around the edges etc of the Wrapseal rather
than being used to provide the adhesive bond as is required with more traditional EPDM systems.

Do I need an external membrane?

You don’t have to use an external membrane as long as you take into account the weather resistance of the through wall construction.
We have tested Wrapseal with our Wraptite on the sheathing board and without. Use of an external membrane may be required for
additional weather resistance or airtightness of the structure.

Will the use of Wrapseal guarantee my airtightness and watertightness?

If installed as per our instructions, then you should get good results in terms of the airtightness and watertightness. As a component
performance will very much depend on the quality of workmanship.
