Airtight membranes help reduce draughts and heat loss by limiting uncontrolled air leakage through the building fabric. The right product depends on the construction, where the membrane will be installed and how moisture needs to move through the structure.

Different membranes serve different purposes. Internal air and vapour control layers help restrict moisture vapour entering the structure from indoors, while vapour-permeable external airtight membranes allow moisture vapour to escape while limiting air leakage. Both need correctly sealed joints, edges and service openings to form a continuous airtight layer.
