Things you should know about this product!

  • This product is sold by the roll

Description

M.A.D. PRO 70 is an aluminised bituminous acoustic sheet reinforced with mineral fillers. Its high mass provides excellent acoustic insulation by functioning as an anti-resonant layer, a flexible interlayer between rigid elements, or a membrane resonator within spring systems. It also delivers a Bs1d0 fire reaction rating, acts as a vapour barrier, and provides thermo-reflective properties when installed in cavities.

Specifications

  • Length
    600cm
  • Width
    100cm
  • Fire rating
    Euroclass B

Key Features

  • Increases the acoustic mass of lightweight walls for enhanced sound insulation
  • Shifts resonance frequencies of rigid elements, strengthening insulation performance
  • Improves low-frequency insulation by converting acoustic energy between insulators
  • Enables reduced cavity depth while maintaining acoustic performance
  • Bonds effectively to galvanised steel to reduce sheet resonance
  • Achieves excellent fire classification (Bs1d0) without requiring additional coverings
  • Acts as a vapour barrier and enhances thermal reflection within cavities
  • Compatible with perforated or porous surface finishes for optimised acoustic performance
  • Long-lasting durability and performance

Where to use

  • Industrial roofs with acoustic requirements → Adds acoustic mass and reduces resonance in roof systems.
  • Anti-resonant layer for galvanised steel → Applied to galvanised steel sheets to improve resonance control in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Partition walls and ceilings → Installed between rigid layers such as plasterboard to increase low-frequency sound insulation on both vertical and horizontal surfaces.
  • Spring-based systems → Used within spring assemblies to significantly improve low-frequency isolation.
  • Acoustic solutions requiring vapour control → Provides internal vapour barrier functionality while adding acoustic mass.
  • Technical wood panelling → Suitable for use in acoustic systems with decorative timber elements.
  • Perforated or porous finishes → Works effectively with perforated systems to improve acoustic absorption while reflecting heat.

Important Recommendations:

  • Façade cladding must terminate at the dividing wall between different users (see SPD 2.1).
  • Do not perforate systems with installations in specified commercial/ground-floor solutions (see SPD 2.3, SPD 4.4).
  • Partition walls should be plastered to a minimum of 1 cm (see SPD 3).
  • Walls should not be anchored to structural elements, except permitted roof connections. Stability must be maintained by bonding cladding elements to internal floating walls.
  • Ceiling dampers must be anchored to joists or reinforced elements (see SPD 4.2).
  • For heavy ceilings, use a grid with primary and secondary profiles to distribute loads (see SPD 4.3).
  • Gypsum plasterboards must always be fixed to galvanised steel framing, never plate-to-plate screws.
  • For dry wall cladding over 4 m high, elastic fasteners are recommended (see SPD 2.5).
  • When used in cavities or with perforated finishes, fit the aluminised side to face inward for improved heat reflection.

Frequently asked questions

What is M.A.D. PRO 70 used for?

M.A.D. PRO 70 is used to add acoustic mass and reduce resonance in walls, ceilings, and roofs. It enhances low-frequency insulation while also serving as a vapour barrier and fire-rated component.

Does M.A.D. PRO 70 provide fire protection?

Yes. M.A.D. PRO 70 achieves a Bs1d0 fire reaction rating, providing strong fire performance without requiring additional coverings in many system designs.

Can M.A.D. PRO 70 be used with perforated or timber finishes?

Yes. It can be combined with perforated or porous surface finishes, as well as technical wood panelling, to optimise acoustic insulation and improve system performance.
