Novia B2 Building Paper is best suited for use as a traditional, versatile building paper in a wide range of non-critical construction applications. Manufactured to meet the requirements of BS 1521 Grade B2 (Class B without reinforcement), it is commonly used for temporary protection, draught-proofing, packaging, and as a separation or lining layer in timber frame construction. Its bitumen-impregnated kraft paper construction offers basic moisture resistance, making it suitable for internal use where limited exposure to moisture is expected. Novia B2 is not intended for use as a primary vapour control or breather membrane but remains a reliable, cost-effective solution for general-purpose building needs.

Is it suitable for permanent installations?

No. B2 paper is intended only for temporary use. For permanent installations—such as vapour checks in insulated walls—Novia recommends A1F or Polybit building papers instead.

How durable and water-resistant is it?

It offers 140 kN/m² wet bursting strength and resists water for a minimum of 3 hours per BS 1521 testing. It’s also resistant to grease and solvents from plaster and cement.

Does it repel pests?

Yes. The material is not attractive to insects or vermin, making it suitable for temporary use in exposed environments.
