PolyFoam XPS Polyfoam Handyboard – 1200mm x 600mm is best suited for use in a variety of thermal insulation applications where high compressive strength, moisture resistance, and long-term performance are essential. It is ideal for installation below a concrete slab, providing reliable thermal insulation and preventing heat loss to the ground. When used below a screed or below chipboard, it offers a stable and durable base that enhances floor performance and energy efficiency. The board is also highly effective in underfloor heating systems, ensuring even heat distribution and minimising downward heat loss. In roofing applications, Polyfoam Handyboard performs exceptionally well in both warm flat roofs and inverted flat roofs, where its closed-cell XPS structure provides excellent resistance to water absorption and long-term compressive stability. This makes it a versatile insulation solution suitable for a wide range of building environments.

How does it compare to full-size boards?

The “Handyboard” format is smaller and easier to handle, intended for smaller projects or retrofit use. The performance is comparable (same XPS core) to larger floorboard or roofboard panels offered by Polyfoam, but in a more manageable size

What limitations should be noted?

• Temperature limit: service temperature up to ~+70 °C (above that the material may degrade)
• Not suitable for continuous flame or direct exposure to fire sources (like any XPS)
• Joints must be tight to avoid thermal bridging or air paths
• Must be protected during installation (not left exposed to direct sunlight or mechanical damage)

What applications is it suitable for?

• Floor insulation (below slab, under screed, above slab)
• Warm flat roof constructions 
• Inverted roofs (where appropriate protection) 
• Perimeter insulation below DPC (damp proof course) in ground floor build-ups 
• Underfloor heating installations (embedded or overlaid)
