Things you should know about this product!

  • This product is sold by the board
  • This product is available in the following thicknesses: 50mm, 60mm, 80mm and 100mm

Description

Polyfoam Roofboard Super is a high-performance, rigid extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation board designed for a wide range of roofing applications. With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 5 and zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), it provides an environmentally responsible solution for both flat and inverted roofs.

The board is lightweight and lap-jointed for easy handling and precise installation, while delivering high compressive strength (500 kPa), making it ideal for areas subject to heavy loads and foot traffic. Its combination of strength, thermal efficiency, and environmental credentials makes Polyfoam Roofboard Super a reliable choice for long-lasting roof insulation.

Where to use

PolyFoam Roofboard Super is best suited for use in flat roof applications where exceptional compressive strength and durability are required. It is particularly effective in roofs subject to high loads, such as rooftop car parks, providing reliable structural support while maintaining excellent thermal insulation. The board also performs well in inverted roofs below ballast or paving slabs, offering long-term dimensional stability and resistance to moisture ingress. Additionally, it is ideal for green or garden roofs, supporting vegetation layers while retaining insulating performance, and in flat roofs with a single-ply membrane, ensuring efficient thermal performance and protection of the roofing system. Its high-performance XPS construction makes PolyFoam Roofboard Super a versatile and robust solution for demanding roofing environments.

Frequently asked questions

In what applications is Roofboard Super used?

  • Inverted roofs (insulation above waterproofing, with ballast or paving slabs)
  • Warm roofs (traditional roof deck + insulation + waterproofing)
  • Green roofs, roof terraces, and loading roofs (e.g. those with pedestrian or maintenance access)
  • Roofs subject to heavier loads (such as car park decks or roof gardens) where higher compressive strength is required

How should it be installed?

  • Install on a clean, level substrate.
  • Boards should be tightly butted and staggered in multiple layers to avoid continuous joints.
  • Utilise the lap joint details appropriately (15 mm overlap) to maintain continuity and reduce thermal bridging.
  • Protect from prolonged UV exposure during storage — boards should not be left in direct sunlight for extended periods.
  • In inverted systems, cover with separation / filter layers (e.g. geotextile) before ballast or paving slabs.
  • Ensure that waterproofing above is continuous, and detailing at upstands, perimeters, and penetrations is carefully designed.

What are limitations and cautions?

  • Like all XPS materials, it’s combustible—adequate fire protection or covering may be required depending on building regulations and risk assessment.
  • Must not be exposed to open flames or ignition sources.
  • Joints and edge details must be handled properly to prevent thermal bridging or moisture ingress.
  • Prolonged exposure to UV can degrade the surface —
