ROCKWOOL® SCB is best suited for use as a cavity barrier and perimeter edge seal in a range of external wall constructions where fire stopping and thermal performance are required. In masonry applications, it is installed within the cavity to inhibit the passage of smoke and fire while also helping to reduce air movement and heat loss at party wall junctions. When used in timber frame constructions faced with OSB, SCB provides an effective compressed fire barrier that accommodates structural tolerances while maintaining continuity of the fire and air seal. It is equally suitable for steel frame systems faced with cement particle board, where its flexibility and stone wool core ensure reliable performance across interfaces. How does ROCKWOOL SCB provide fire protection?

The stone wool core is non-combustible and designed to inhibit the passage of fire and smoke through cavities. When installed correctly under compression, it forms a tight seal that maintains the fire performance of the wall construction.

Is ROCKWOOL SCB resistant to moisture?

The stone wool insulation is water repellent, and the outer polythene sleeve helps protect the product during installation. It does not support mould growth and maintains performance if exposed to incidental moisture.
